Italy – Rome!

We took the scarfi in the morning to get back to the bus so we could travel to Rome…first stop Bologna..yup, where the earthquake was! All was ok though. We made our way to Rome and met with a local guide there who showed us the spanish steps, the Pantheon, Egyptian Obliques (one that was 44 metres tall) After walking around in the crowds and the rain with every second person trying to sell us an umbrella it was time to call it quits. We ate dinner with some of the other guests in a local restaurant in the middle of Rome. Graham the tour guide bought everyone of us (51 in total) a gelato each. Very nice of him we all thought.

Day 2 in Rome consisted of the Colosseum, St Peters Basilica, Sistene chapel and the Vatican. We then had a group photo taken as a momento. We had lunch in a cute little cafe and finally found a ATM that worked. After lunch we went to the Trevi fountain and threw in 3 coins over our shoulder. We had dinner at a traditional Italian restaurant. The waiters were hilarious and the restaurant had singers and musicians that would come round to each table and sing to us. All the ladies got a rose and a kiss. Finished the meal with some limoncella..its a lemon liqueur that tasted like liquid strepsils! Must say I wasnt a fan but alot of people on the bus were and it made for a very funny trip home on the bus.
