Choose the perfect wedding ceremony time for each season on the Central Coast. Summer, autumn, winter & spring start-time recommendations to ensure beautiful lighting and relaxed photos.

Summer weddings (December-February)

Recommended ceremony start: 4:30–5:30pm

Summer daylight is long, strong, and bright. Earlier than 4pm and you’re dealing with:

  • harsh shadows under eyes

  • squinting guests

  • overheated bridal parties

  • sweat-factor (for real!)

A later ceremony means:

  • softer golden-hour light

  • cooler temperatures

  • dreamy, romantic portraits

  • more relaxed guests

If you want sunset photos — start your ceremony about 60–90 minutes before sunset.

Autumn weddings (March - May)

Recommended ceremony start: 3:30–4:30pm

Autumn has the BEST light of the year — soft, warm, flattering.
This time of year gives you:

  • rich golden tones

  • comfortable temperatures

  • consistent, easy-to-photograph light

If you’re in a photogenic venue (gardens, olive groves, vineyards), this season is magic.

Winter Weddings (June - August)

Recommended ceremony start: 2:00–3:00pm

This one surprises people — but winter light disappears FAST.

Sunset can be as early as 5pm, so you’ll want:

  • ceremony earlier in the day

  • portraits finished before dark

  • warmth for guests

Benefits of winter weddings:

  • soft, flattering midday light

  • vendors & venues more available

  • cosy vibe — heaters, wraps, candlelit receptions

Spring time wedding (September - November)

Recommended ceremony start: 3:30–4:30pm

Spring light is bright—but not as harsh as summer.
Great for:

  • garden weddings

  • floral backdrops

  • colour-rich photos

Spring is also unpredictable — so allow buffer time in case of:

  • wind

  • surprise showers

  • pollen allergies

Here’s an easy way to time your ceremony perfectly:

Start your ceremony 1–2 hours before sunset.

This gives you:

  • ceremony

  • hugs + congratulations

  • group photos

  • bridal portraits in golden light

Without rushing and without dragging you away from your guests for too long.
