Dylan & Elly’s Winter Wedding at The Olive Grove — Cozy Vibes, Cat Cut-Outs & A Seriously Fun Crowd

There’s something magical about a winter wedding at The Olive Grove, the soft golden light, the crisp air, and that warm, cozy atmosphere that wraps around the whole day. And Dylan and Elly’s celebration was exactly why I adore photographing here. Their day was fun, heartfelt, a little quirky, and overflowing with energy from start to finish.

A venue that always delivers

The Olive Grove is a stunning Central Coast wedding venue for so many reasons:

  • The rows of olives that create stunning backdrops

  • The dreamy winter light

  • The intimate, European-feel courtyard

  • And the way every space feels purpose-built for candid, relaxed photography

The most fun crowd

From the moment I arrived, it was clear Dylan and Elly were surrounded by a lively, hilarious, and wholeheartedly supportive group of family and friends. Winter weddings naturally bring everyone closer together, and this crowd? They took that to the next level.

There was constant laughter, playful banter, and the kind of joy you can’t pose or manufacture. It was pure magic to photograph.

The Cat cut-outs (the stars of the show?)

Okay… we HAVE to talk about the cardboard cut-outs.

Dylan and Elly brought life-sized cut-outs of their CATS to the wedding — and it was everything.
Guests posed with them, carried them around the venue, and at one point one of the cut-outs even ended up on the dance floor. It was hilarious, totally unique, and made for some of my favourite candid moments of the whole day.

Little touches like this are what make a wedding feel truly “you,” and I absolutely loved capturing it.

Golden winter portraits

Winter at The Olive Grove means soft, diffused light that makes portraits feel romantic and effortless. We slipped out for a quick session among the olive rows as well as Forresters Beach lookout. Keeping things relaxed and natural — a mix of playful moments and warm, intimate interactions between the two of them.

We didn’t need long; the environment does the heavy lifting, and Dylan and Elly were so easygoing and connected that everything unfolded beautifully in just a few minutes.

Night time magic in the courtyard

Once the sun dipped, the courtyard lit up beautifully warm lights, a hint of winter chill, and all that buzzing energy from the reception. We ducked out for a night-time photo, and WOW… it was a standout moment.

The soft lighting, the gorgeous arbour and the quietness of the courtyard created a stunning contrast to the lively dance floor inside. It’s one of those “just the two of us” images that perfectly wraps up the story of the day.
