Candid vs. Posed: Finding the perfect balance.

Congratulations on taking the plunge into the wild world of wedding planning!
I’m your friendly neighborhood wedding photographer, and today, we’re going to dive into a topic that is Candid vs. Posed wedding photos!
As you’re probably figuring out, your big day is all about capturing the love, joy, and maybe a few crazy moments that make your wedding uniquely yours. And that’s where the age-old battle between Candid and Posed shots begins!

The Candid Chronicles

Let’s talk about candid shots – those sneaky moments when you didn’t even realize the camera was there. My absolute favourite shots to take!
Candid photos capture those spontaneous, hilarious, and sometimes utterly unexpected gems that will make you laugh for years to come.

The Posed Posse

Posed portraits – Everyone’s in their best attire, and I get to play director, making sure every smile is perfectly on cue.

Even when I do photograph the posed part of the day it really isnt that posed. It is fun, it is quick, and it is not stiff or boring.

Finding the Perfect Balance

Why choose one when you can have the best of both worlds? A mix of candid and posed shots will give your wedding album the ultimate storytelling power.

I have lots of couples who can’t decide between candid or posed. So, we do both: candids during the ceremony and reception (cue the crazy dance floor moments), and for the couple portraits, we go for a mix of posed and playful shots.

The Magic Ingredient – Trust!

Whether you’re going candid, posed, or a mix of both, there’s one essential ingredient – trust. I have been incredibly lucky to have 900 couples trust me.

So, whether you choose candid or posed, it’s all about embracing the hilarity, love, and beauty of your big day. Let the battle between candid and posed wedding photos commence, but at the end of the day, it’s about you and your forever partner celebrating your love story.

Choose a mix if you’re feeling adventurous, or go all-in on one style if it resonates with your soul. But most importantly, laugh, love, and let your personalities shine through. Remember, no matter the style, your wedding photos will be the perfect mementos of a day filled with joy and unscripted magic. Happy posing, happy candid-ing, and happy forever after!
