How did you meet each other? We have been together since we were 16 (13 years now!), back in the days when the way you talked to each other was on MSN and MySpace! It’s hard to remember now when we actually met, but the first real memory we have of meeting is the time Dennis tagged along with a friend to a surprise party that was thrown for Lauren. We started talking from there and the rest is history!
Describe your ideal wedding day – The sun is shining and the people are smiling! We just want our wedding day to be easy, fun and relaxed with everyone having a good time. A few laughs along the way too!
Who did you choose to marry you, and why? – Sarah Tolmie. She was the celebrant at Lauren’s brother’s wedding a few years ago and she did a really good job. We thought let’s meet with Sarah and have a chat and see how we go. She is such a lovely person who gets so excited about being involved in your special day. Once we had met with Sarah, we knew we didn’t need to consider anyone else to marry us.
Tell me about your venue? What was the deciding factor? Pullman Magenta Shores. We knew we wanted somewhere on the Central Coast and somewhere convenient for the majority of our guests to get to. We wanted the ceremony and reception space in the same location too.
We were interested in a cocktail style reception and Magenta offered this for a reasonable package. It was the only venue we went and looked and knew it would be great so we locked it in.
Why did you end up choosing Lisa Lent to shoot your day? – Lisa reached out to Lauren after Lauren’s sister in law (also Lauren!) commented on some of Lisa’s previous photos taken at Magenta Shores on Facebook. Right from the start Lisa was really friendly and helpful and her photos were beautiful. Lauren had heard good things about Lisa and she asked a couple of her friends who had Lisa shoot their weddings in the past and they had nothing but great things to say about her so the decision was made and we locked her in! There was no need to consider anyone else.
Which company is doing your hair and make up? – Nicole, the owner of Final Touch Bridal, a wedding dress store in Somersby, is doing the hair and makeup. Nicole no longer takes bookings for hair and makeup as she is focusing on her increasingly busy store. Lauren managed to lock Nicole in for the day before stopped taking bookings for her hair and makeup business.
Are you having a DJ or live band? Who did you choose? – We are having a DJ from DJ Magoos. We were originally not going to have a DJ but then Lauren met with them at a wedding expo and knew that they would make the day even better!
Where did you get your wedding day clothing from? – Lauren’s dress is from Shazzam Bridal and Formal at Toronto – it was the only store she went to and the first dress she tried on! The Bridemaid’s dresses are from The Bridal Outlet as Somersby. Dennis’ and the Groomsmen’s suits are from Tarocash.
Who is doing your florals and your decorations? – GG Events are doing both the florals and the decorations.
Name 2 things you want your guests to remember about your wedding – Hopefully good times on the dancefloor! The relaxed atmosphere of the cocktail style making it easy for everyone to talk to each other.
